Dreamers of a better life for every person, no matter who they are.
A helping hand that not only gives but also offers a hug, comfort, compassion, and understanding.
If I have done anything good in life, it is certainly turning my dream of helping the less fortunate into reality.
And I was not alone; I was surrounded by women to whom I owe gratitude for being there at a crucial moment in my life and for being an unforgettable link in creating a golden circle of charity over Bar, which still shines with even greater brilliance today.
Many women have left, giving up for personal reasons, but the piece of their souls that they wove into the creation of the Association "Žene Bara" will always be remembered and will warm the soul forever.
Those who remain are my sisters, my children for life. They are the ones who nourished, healed, clothed, welcomed newborns, and bid farewell to the elderly, abandoned and forgotten, as they took their eternal rest in a better and happier world.
They are the ones who "draw water from stone" to quench the thirsty.
They are the ones who sincerely cried with a person whose hand trembles as it reaches out to us.
Every time I look at them, I see a shining halo above the heads of heroines in the difficult times we live in.
I genuinely admire them, and on behalf of the less fortunate, I thank them for being here.
Women of Bar with great ❤️
That is me, Ljiljana Vujović.
Our Beginnings
In 2018, Ljiljana Vujović founded the Facebook group "Women of Bar Cook with Heart" with the idea of preserving the old traditional recipes of our region from being forgotten. Responding to a call from the Red Cross of Bar, Ljiljana issued a public appeal for citizens to join in the effort to prepare meals for our elderly fellow citizens living in rural areas, who are visited daily by geriatric caregivers. The response was overwhelming, with complete meals being prepared daily to meet the food needs. Through this action, we realized that the need was much greater, that many people were living on the edge of existence, which led us to the idea of founding a non-governmental organization through which we could provide help and bring together people willing to contribute. At the same time, the idea of opening a community kitchen stayed with us, and we opened it on November 5, 2018, with the help of a large number of generous people. That kitchen has since become the central place of charity in our city.
